DUMBO

Dumbo, short for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. My buddy, Rob, recommended that I visit this area so that I could see the sun set over the city.

Although a ferry would take me directly to the park along the river, I opted to take the subway. There's just something interesting about the idea of taking a subway under the East River.

Kim and I exited the subway at the York Street station, took a left on Jay Street and walked about a block before we realized we were walking in the wrong direction. We turned around and enjoyed the beautiful evening stroll to the Brooklyn Bridge Park.

There were a few people hanging out already. Some were sitting steady with their cameras perched on their tripods. Others were enjoying the company of friends and chatting about the latest events and conditions in their lives.

I found a spot along the water's edge before setting up my tripod and camera. It would be an hour before sunset, but the wait was easy. We relaxed and watched the boats pass by and the clouds drift lazily overhead. And soon, splendor.
